It started with one person wanting to give back to her community, cooking homemade soup and delivering it bowl by bowl to feed the homeless in Charlotte’s tent city. She shared her soups with neighbors one evening, sitting on a front porch and breaking bread together. And they were inspired to join together to help those in need and to be a force for change in their community.
Our front porches are comfortable, welcoming extensions of our homes, where friends meet, and for us, where ideas are born to help those without homes.
The goodness of soup was the inspiration. Soup evokes happy childhood memories. Soup is a natural remedy when we’re sick. Soup makes an elegant first course. Soup is a hearty mainstay. Indeed, soup is good for the soul. And now soup can make a difference in helping people who are homeless regain their dignity and climb out of homelessness.
This inspiration sparked a brand – Front Porch Foods, a nonprofit company making delicious fresh food with natural ingredients and donating all profits to help build resiliency and financial independence one community at a time. Presently, all profits stay in Mecklenburg County.
Front Porch Foods has partnered with Roof Above, whose mission is to unite the community to end homelessness, one life at a time. We agree that homelessness is solvable and you can be a force for solving homelessness when you buy a bowl of Soup with Soul.
The more soup you buy, the more people we can help. Thank you for helping us to help others.
